We are proud to share that our founder, Sabha Sajjad-Hazai, has been appointed a per diem Deputy Judge in Brampton’s Small Claims Court, a division of the Superior Court of Justice. This role reflects Sabha’s unwavering commitment to equitable justice and community service—she will continue her legal practice while serving on the small claims court bench.

Small Claims Court handles over 50,000 cases yearly in Ontario, from contractual disputes to wage claims and small business conflicts. For many, it’s their only interaction with the justice system. Sabha’s deep ties to diverse community needs and her focus on accessibility bring a key perspective to the role. Her approach is straightforward: listen with humility, seek to understsnd first and then advise.

Whether advocating for families or collaborating with social service providers, she has centred those often excluded by systemic barriers to access to justice.

In addition to her private practice, she has trained community leaders, improved community outreach, and designed programs to demystify legal processes and increase legal access for underserved communities. Now, as a per diem Deputy Judge, she is committed to fairness for self-represented and represented litigants, combining legal expertise with a principled dedication to justice.
